This course provides an introduction to investment planning. Topics include securities markets, debt and equity investments, managed assets, bond and stock valuation and risk measurement calculations, alternative investments and derivatives, portfolio management theory, and asset allocation.
Classes use a blended-learning approach that includes textbook reading assignments and practice questions, in-class lectures, discussions, and reviews, and online practice quizzes that focus on the investment topics on the CFP Board’s 70 Topics list to help students prepare for the CFP Exam.

Specific requirements for qualifying for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) credential include:
- Bachelors Degree
- 3 years of full time experience in the field of Finance
- Completion of a CFP® curriculum offered by a CFP Board Registered Education Provider
