Most of our MNM program courses are hybrid, which means that there may be a 鈥渓ive session鈥 component in some of our courses. This requires that students come to campus on a particular evening periodically during the semester to meet in-person with the professor and student colleagues. During other weeks, there are asynchronous interactions using our online platform Canvas.

We allow students to schedule their own classes, so they choose whether to attend full- or part-time.

MNM, 33 credit hours:

Typically, a part-time student taking two courses per semester in Fall, Spring and Summer can complete their MNM degree in one and one-half years (5 semesters).

A full-time student taking three courses per semester can complete their MNM degree in just over one year (4 semesters).

The MNM program requires electives, which are great opportunities for students to take courses tailored to their interests. We do not restrict students鈥 electives (as long as they are at the 5000- or 6000-level), so students can customize their degree program.

For students in the MNM program, internships are required if the student does not have relative experience in that field (nonprofit experience for the MNM program).

Taken as an elective, the internship requires the student to work 15 to 20 hours per week throughout the semester, applying what they learned in the program to routine agency operations or to special projects.

MNM alumni are leading nonprofit organizations that vary from philanthropic organizations to behavioral health and social service providers. Some of our graduates also run their own nonprofits. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the annual salary of a person in a management or professional occupation within the nonprofit sector averages $71,011. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, other career prospects in the nonprofit sector include:

Social and Community Service Managers
Employment of social and community service managers is projected to grow 17 percent from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations. Employment growth will be driven by increases in the elderly population and increases in demand for substance abuse treatment and mental health and health-related services.
Average annual salary (2019) $67,150.
Public Relations and Fundraising Managers
Employment of public relations and fundraising managers is projected to grow 9 percent from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations. The need to raise funds for nonprofit organizations will require more fundraising managers.
Average annual salary (2019) $116,180.
