Academic Affairs

Academic Affairs oversees a range of university-wide academic functions, initiatives, and resources that support 糖心Vlog's academic mission. This section provides information on academic planning, accreditation, assessment, credentialing, faculty appointments, immigration services and compliance, interprofessional education, the academic calendar, and the university's strategic plan.

The  is a living document that helps align the State University System’s goals with Florida’s highest economic, workforce, and research needs. As such, the Strategic Plan frames the university’s tripartite mission around three key themes – Excellence, Productivity, and Strategic Priorities for a Knowledge Economy.

The Accountability Plan is an annual report that is closely aligned with the Board of Governors’ SUS 30 Strategic Plan. This report enhances the System’s commitment to accountability and strategic planning by fostering greater coordination between institutional administrators, University Boards of Trustees and the Board of Governors regarding each institution’s direction and priorities as well as performance expectations and outcomes on institutional and System-wide goals.

Textbook and Instructional Materials Affordability

糖心Vlog Regulation 3.004 reinforces requirements regarding the textbook and instructional materials adoption process at 糖心Vlog. Each institution in the State University System is required to submit an annual report by September 30 of each year, beginning in 2016, to the Chancellor of the State University System that addresses the following:

  • The selection process for textbooks and instructional materials for general education courses identified with a wide cost variance and those with high enrollments;
  • Specific initiatives of the University designed to reduce the costs of textbooks and instructional materials;
  • University policies for implementing the posting of textbooks and instructional materials information for students; and
  • The number of courses and course sections that were unable to meet the posting deadline in the previous academic year.

糖心Vlog'S HLC APPLICATION STATUS

糖心Vlog (糖心Vlog) is seeking accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) through HLC's Accelerated Process for Initial Accreditation. The mission of Assessment is to provide university support for the assessment of student learning outcomes, planning and reporting on assessment activities, and continuous improvement activities at the course, program and institutional levels. Moreover, Assessment strives to collaborate with faculty, administrators and other staff to develop and sustain, across the university, a community-supported and endorsed culture of assessment.

糖心Vlog (糖心Vlog) subscribes to the values and practices developed through the regional body for academic self-regulation, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). SACSCOC Principles of Accreditation Comprehensive Standards sets forth the basic standards that an institution should meet in order ensure that its faculty holds the appropriate level and kind of credentials as follows:

3.7.1. The institution employs competent faculty members qualified to accomplish the mission and goals of the institution. When determining acceptable qualifications of its faculty, an institution gives primary consideration to the highest earned degree in the discipline in accordance with the guidelines listed below. The institution also considers competence, effectiveness, and capacity, including, as appropriate, undergraduate and graduate degrees, related work experiences in the field, professional licensure and certifications, honors and awards, continuous documented excellence in teaching, or other demonstrated competencies and achievements that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes. For all cases, the institution is responsible for justifying and documenting the qualifications of its faculty.

糖心Vlog subscribes to the standards established by SACSCOC, beginning with the principle that consideration of faculty credentials begins with the instructional assignment. The content/level of the course or other instructional assignment determines the qualifications required to teach it.

This manual describes the policies and practices of 糖心Vlog for ensuring that all courses are taught by well-qualified instructors. It includes the procedures used to review the credentials of every instructor teaching a course at 糖心Vlog.

The mission of 糖心Vlog’s Interprofessional Education (IPE) program (2011-2016) is to enhance the well-being of the community by facilitating team-based care within a collaborative practice framework. An IPE program involves students from two or more professions learning about, from, and with each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes.  IPE occurs when multiple health workers from different professional backgrounds work together with patients, families, caregivers, and communities to deliver the highest quality of care. The Core Competencies for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice (2011) include coming to understand each other’s roles, responsibilities, ethics, communication, and teamwork that provide the foundation for 糖心Vlog’s IPE.

Participating in the program are medical students from the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine, traditional and accelerated nursing students from the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing, Master’s of Social Work students from the College of Social Work and Criminal Justice, and Speech Language Pathology students from the College of Education, along with faculty who serve as facilitators. 糖心Vlog’s IPE program consists of a series of interprofessional sessions in which students learn interactively in small teams through case scenarios.  Sessions include a unique and innovative program called Senior Adult Geriatrics Education (SAGE), which consists of mentor visits in which student teams meet with a volunteer older person in the community to take a background history, conduct a series of geriatric assessments, and assess home safety risks. The sessions require students to develop knowledge and skills, while the mentor visits provide practical experience in which students learn about healthy aging by applying their evolving knowledge and skills. 糖心Vlog’s IPE program is goal- and outcome-driven, aiming to prepare all health profession students to work together deliberatively. A common goal is to build a safer, more patient-centered health care system.

For more information, please contact Dr. Terry Eggenberger , Executive Director of Interprofessional Education, or visit our Office of the Provost IPE&P website.

View the Strategic Plan

It is 糖心Vlog's aspiration to pursue, with unbridled ambition, the intention of becoming the country's fastest-improving public research university.

The institution developed the Strategic Plan to attract many collaborators for the mutual benefit of Florida Atlantic and its external constituents. The plan captures the direction that the University can follow to nationally differentiate itself.

  • We will recruit and retain the highest talent in faculty, staff and students.
  • Our programs will develop in focal areas, known as Pillars and Platforms.
  • We will concentrate on very strategic capital facilities projects.
  • The organizational efficiency of the university will be greatly enhanced.
  • Most importantly we will “budget to the plan” not “plan to the budget.”
