My nursing journey began with a commitment to caring, compassion, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. After completing my nursing education, I began my clinical career at a large medical center, where I cared for patients and families across various adult critical care settings. These experiences shaped my understanding of nursing as both a science and an art and reinforced the importance of authentic presence, respect, trust, and compassionate, person-centered care. I also contributed to the development of electronic medical records, supporting innovation in nursing practice and enhancing the documentation and communication of patient care.

Committed to lifelong learning and professional growth, I earned my Ph.D. in Nursing and have built my work on the belief that nursing excellence extends beyond clinical competence to encompass caring, compassion, and the courage to lead meaningful change. As a Nurse Educator and scholar, I empower the next generation of nurses to discover their purpose, transform knowledge into meaningful practice, and lead through caring. Through Caring Science, critical thinking, simulation, clinical learning, and community engagement, I prepare students to integrate knowledge, competence, and caring into professional practice. My scholarship exploring young college students’ attraction to nursing reflects my commitment to strengthening the profession, reshaping its image, and inspiring future nurses to embrace the intellectual, human, and caring dimensions of nursing.

My educational philosophy is grounded in creating a caring, student-centered environment that reflects the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing values of integrity, loving kindness, respect, trust, collaboration, innovation, openness, accountability, compassion, authenticity, and courage. Through authentic relationships and a commitment to caring, I strive to empower learners, inspire discovery, foster transformation, and support students as they become confident, competent, compassionate, and courageous leaders in nursing.
